Pune District Collector Jitendra Dudi has directed all departments to start preparations early, ensuring no inconvenience to devotees during the upcoming Ashadhi Wari Palkhi procession.
Arrangements like water supply, sanitation, traffic, roads, road safety, and healthcare facilities should be prepared before the date or start, he directed.
During a review meeting to plan the Palkhi procession to Pandharpur which passes through the district, Dudi assured that suggestions from the Alandi and Dehu Sansthan committees would be discussed positively and addressed effectively. All the dedicated departments have been told to submit a progress report before the next meeting scheduled in May.
This year, all basic necessities like water supply, toilets, and healthcare tents will be installed in greater numbers compared to last year.
Mobile E-toilet with QR code monitoring system to be introduced
A large number of mobile e-toilets will be installed along the Wari routes. Additionally, a dedicated team will oversee appropriate cleanliness and water supply.
Devotees can upload photos of unclean facilities directly to the administration. Network boosters will be installed for better mobile connectivity.
Issues such as preventing traffic congestion during the procession, management of sound systems, uninterrupted power supply at water tanker refill points, and pending road works on the highway were discussed in the meeting.
Dudi highlighted that coordination officers will be appointed at the Taluka level for a smooth procession.
During the meeting, Zila Parishad Chief Executive Officer Gajanan Patil, Additional CEO Chandrakant Waghmare, Resident Deputy Collector Jyoti Kadam, Pimpri-Chinchwad Deputy Commissioner of Police Bapu Bangar, Shri Sant Dnyaneshwar Maharaj Sansthan Committee Chief Trustee Adv. Rajendra Umap, Jagadguru Shri Sant Tukaram Maharaj Sansthan President H.B.P. Jalindar Maharaj More, among others, were present.
