Haridwar, August 2: A grand two-day Anamayam International Conference was organized under the joint aegis of Patanjali University, Patanjali Research Institute, and Central Sanskrit University, New Delhi. The conference aimed to provide a global platform for the integration and coordination of Ayurveda and modern medicine.

Nearly 300 participants from around 200 academic institutions across 16 states joined the conference through both online and offline modes. Medical experts, researchers, policymakers, and health technology specialists from various premier medical and educational institutions of the country participated and shared their views.

On this occasion, the Chancellor of the University, Pujya Swami Ramdev Maharaj, made a major announcement. He said that soon, keeping in view public welfare, world-class treatment will be provided at minimal cost through modern methods at Patanjali Ayurved Hospital in collaboration with AIIMS, Tata Cancer Hospital, and Sir Ganga Ram Hospital.

In the inaugural session, Yoga Rishi Swami Ramdev, Patanjali University Vice-Chancellor and Ayurveda Shiromani Acharya Balkrishna, along with the guests, also released three important books: Ayurveda Avataran, Integrated Pathy, and the Proceedings Book of the Conference. During this time, a Memorandum of Understanding was signed to promote education and research between Dr. Shreya, Dr. Radhika, and Dr. Mukesh from IIT Ropar and Patanjali University Vice-Chancellor Acharya Balkrishna.

Swami Ramdev highlighted the importance of evidence-based and integrated medicine, stating that medical science should serve public welfare and not be a means of earning money.

Acharya Balkrishna discussed the nine globally renowned medical systems, emphasizing that Ayurveda is recognized for its capabilities, whereas other systems are known due to regional or traditional reasons. He also elaborated on classical references, geographical, and archaeological evidence related to the era of Maharishi Charak and Acharya Sushrut.

He said that Patanjali Ayurved Hospital will offer world-class treatment at low cost through modern medical methods and will work to end conspiracy and exploitation in the name of medicine.

The Vice-Chancellor of the Central University, Prof. Srinivas Barkhedi, Dr. Vipin Kumar, General Secretary of Integrated AYUSH Council, Dr. Sunil Ahuja, Padma Shri Dr. B.N. Gangadhar, President of the National Medical Commission, and Dr. Vishal Mago, Professor and Head of the Department of Burns and Plastic Surgery, AIIMS Rishikesh, also addressed the program.

The first session of the program, The Beginning of AYUSH, was chaired by Dr. B.N. Gangadhar, President of the National Medical Commission, and Prof. D. Gopal C. Nanda, Chairperson of the Empowered Committee, AYUSH Ministry, Government of Odisha. In this session, five speakers presented their research: Prof. Vaidya Rakesh Sharma, Guru Ravidas Ayurveda University, Hoshiarpur, Punjab; Dr. Manu Malhotra, Professor and Head of ENT Department, AIIMS Rishikesh; and Prof. Pulak Mukherjee, Department of Pharmaceutical Technology, Jadavpur University, Kolkata.

The second session, Comprehensive Clinical Case Discussion, was chaired by Prof. Dr. Gopal C. Nanda and Prof. Pulak Mukherjee. Three disease-specific diagnoses were discussed: For COPD, presentations were made by Prof. Dr. Meenakshi Dhar, Professor and Head of the Department of Geriatrics, AIIMS Rishikesh, and D.C.B. Dhanraj, Dean of Postgraduate Studies, Department of Kaya Chikitsa, Patanjali Ayurved College. For Fistula-in-Ano, Prof. P. Hemanta Kumar, National Institute of Ayurveda (Deemed University), Jaipur, and Prof. Sachin Gupta, Department of Surgery, Patanjali Ayurved College, presented their research.

For Disease Prevention Methods, Dr. Raman Santra and Dr. Dheeraj Kumar Tyagi, Professors, Department of Swasthavritta and Yoga, Patanjali Ayurved College, and Dr. Monika Pathania, Department of Medicine, AIIMS Rishikesh, presented their research.

Meanwhile, the parallel Poster Session was chaired by Dr. Pradeep Nayan, Dr. Rashmi Atul Joshi, Dr. Kanak Soni, and Dr. Ramakant Marde.

In the inaugural session, Patanjali University Chancellor Param Pujya Swami Ramdev Ji Maharaj and Vice-Chancellor Param Shraddheya Acharya Balkrishna Maharaj welcomed the chief guests with garlands, ceremonial scarves, and sacred Ganga water.

This was followed by the lighting of the ceremonial lamp by the chief guests, and the conference began with the university anthem and Dhanvantari Vandana presented by Chandramohan and his group from Patanjali University. Subsequently, Dr. Anurag Ji, Vice President of Patanjali Research Institute, delivered the welcome address.
