Mumbai: The Maharashtra government appointed senior IAS officer Indurani Jakhar as the new District Collector of Palghar. An official order issued by the state administration has directed her to take charge immediately. Jakhar previously served as the Commissioner of Kalyan-Dombivli Municipal Corporation before her transfer to Palghar.
This move is part of an ongoing reshuffle of senior IAS officers in Maharashtra. Jakhar has been appointed following the retirement of former Palghar District Collector Govind Bodke.
Who is Indurani Jakhar?
Indurani Jakhar is a 2016-batch IAS officer who secured an All India Rank of 30 in her second attempt at the UPSC Civil Services Examination. She hails from Jhajjar in Haryana, though her family later settled in Delhi, where her father served in the Delhi Police.
Before joining the civil services, Jakhar earned an MBBS degree in 2013. She later decided to pursue a career in administration and began preparing for UPSC, cracking the exam in her second attempt. Her husband, Mohit Kumar Garg, is an IPS officer, reported ABP Majha.
Just last week, Maharashtra saw the transfer of five other senior IAS officers, marking a significant reshuffling in the state’s administrative structure.
