Mumbai: Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis and Union Minister Manohar Lal Khattar jointly chaired a high-level meeting to review the state’s urban sector progress on May 13. The meeting was held around 4:30 PM at the Sahyadri Guest House in Mumbai, with a focus on urban growth, housing reforms, metro development, and cleanliness initiatives across the state.
The meeting aimed to align efforts with Maharashtra’s broader urban vision. In a post shared on X, CM Fadnavis highlighted key discussions from the session, also sharing photos and videos from the event.
During the review, the state government outlined its commitment to enhancing public transport infrastructure, particularly through the expansion of the Mumbai Metro and other metro networks. An integrated ticketing system for seamless travel across metros, railways, and buses has already been introduced to improve passenger convenience.
The Maharashtra government has sought Central Government approval for two new metro projects in Pune. Since these are being independently funded by the State, a request was made for a 50:50 funding partnership with the Centre to ensure timely execution and financial support.

Further, CM Fadnavis appealed to the Centre to revise beneficiary eligibility under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana and similar housing schemes in Mumbai and the Mumbai Metropolitan Region (MMR), to make them more inclusive and effective.
He also emphasised the successful implementation of the Swachh Bharat Abhiyan in Maharashtra. The state ranked first in the 2023 Swachh Survekshan, and CM Fadnavis requested continued Central Government support to sustain and scale these cleanliness initiatives.
CM Devendra Fadnavis mentioned in a post on X that Deputy Chief Minister Eknath Shinde, Minister Madhuri Misal, and several senior officials were present at the meeting.
