Mumbai: A frustrated Mumbaikar highlighted the city’s growing traffic issues by taking to Reddit and sharing a real-life ordeal that many commuters will find relatable. The Reddit user mentioned that it took two full hours to cross the bridge near the Grand Hyatt in Kalina, just to hit the highway toward Vile Parle on Tuesday.
In the post shared by user @Free_Rich9893, the user described how on Tuesday, they left the office in Vile Parle around 4 PM to drop their grandmother off in Vashi. The drive to Vashi went smoothly, and after spending some time having tea and chatting with relatives, the return journey began around 5:45 PM.
By 6:20 PM, the user had reached the bridge near Grand Hyatt, Kalina, and that’s when the nightmare began. The user mentioned in the reddit post that "It took me TWO. FREAKING. HOURS. just to cross that one damn bridge and hit the highway back toward Vile Parle," the user added. "Not kidding. Not exaggerating. From 6:20 PM to almost 8:20 PM. I was stuck in one endless stretch of hell. Engine on, AC on, mind OFF."
Questioning what is happening to the city, the user continued:
"The roads are beyond repair. The traffic is madness. Nothing moves. People are breaking lanes, honking like it’s a war zone, and everyone’s just… stuck. And the worst part? We’ve started treating this like it’s normal. Like it’s okay to waste 2 hours of our life for 10 minutes."
The post further reflected on the larger frustration that many Mumbai residents feel:
When discussing the challenges faced by Mumbaikars, the user expressed frustration: "We pay taxes, insane fuel prices, and tolls — for what? Stress, delay, and literal pain in the neck (and back). As Mumbaikars, we keep adjusting. But till when? Two hours. One signal. Let that sink in. Has anyone else been stuck on that bridge? he user added.
