Thane: A 34-year-old woman allegedly jumped to death along with her one-year-old daughter from sixth floor of a high-rise in the Kasarwadvali area of Ghodbunder early on Friday morning.
Victim Priyanka Mohite was upset that her husband, Mahesh, did not allow her to go to her sister's home in Satara for Raksha Bandhan. Mahesh reportedly advised her not to travel so far with the child. There have been several altercations between them in the past, according to the police.
Inspector (crime) Y S Awhad of Kasarvadavali police station said that Mohite had sent a WhatsApp message to her sister that she was killing herself before she jumped.
Husband Denied Her To Travel To Sister's Place
Priyanka lived with her husband, Mahesh, and daughter, Dhruvi, in a flat on the sixth floor of Jay Square building in Kasarwadvali. Following a heated argument around 1:30 am on Friday, Priyanka reportedly jumped from the balcony of her apartment along with her daughter, Dhruvi. Neighbors heard a loud thud and rushed to the compound, where they found the mother and daughter lying in a pool of blood. They immediately informed the police, who rushed the injured persons to a local hospital, but they were declared dead.
The police have registered an accidental death report (ADR) and are recording statements from the husband, neighbors, and relatives. "The picture will become clear only after that," a police official stated.
