Thane Shocker: Woman Pushed In Front Of Goods Train After Resisting Sexual Assault At Diva Station; Accused Arrested

Thane: A horrifying incident of alleged sexual assault and murder unfolded at Diva railway station on Friday morning when a woman was pushed under a moving goods train after she resisted a molestation attempt. According to officials from Thane Railway Police, the accused, identified as 39-year-old Rajan Singh, has been arrested.

Details On The Shocking Incident

The crime came to light when railway cleaning staff were working on platforms 7 and 8 early Friday morning. They reportedly heard shouting from platforms 5 and 6 and noticed a man and woman involved in a heated altercation.

According to the railway police, on July 18, between 5 am and 5.30 am, the complainant, Tulsidas Hema Kamdi, 35, was cleaning platform number 7/8 of Diwa railway station when he heard a loud noise from platform number 5/6. When the complainant and another cleaning worker looked over, they saw a woman arguing with the accused, Rajan Shivnarayan Singh.

The accused was walking towards the Kalyan side with the woman, chasing her and trying to get close to her. An argument was going on between them. The accused then grabbed the woman around the neck with both hands from the front, while the woman resisted and tried to free herself. When a mail train was passing by, the accused allegedly pushed the woman under the train, killing her.

While the accused was walking on the railway track, he was caught by police constable Sagar Shinde, who was on duty at Diwa railway station, and was taken into custody. He has been arrested and produced before the court, which has granted police custody until July 22. Further investigation is being conducted by Police Inspector C. V. Kendra of Thane Railway Police Station.

Accused Tried To Sexually Assault Woman

Investigations have revealed that Rajan followed the woman onto the platform and attempted to sexually assault her. However, police confirmed that the victim and the accused did not know each other. The woman’s identity is yet to be ascertained and efforts are underway to establish who she was.

Thane Railway Police registered a case of murder against Rajan Singh under relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code. He was produced before the court, which remanded him to five days of police custody for further investigation.
