Thane News: 3 Cops, Including Woman Constable, Suspended For Allegedly Extorting ₹40,000 From Couple

Thane: Thane Commissioner of Police Ashutosh Dumbre has suspended three police cops, including one woman, who were part of the patrolling team that allegedly extorted money of Rs 40,000 from a couple for not taking action in Thane. According to the police, action was taken by the Commissioner after the couple approached the Thane police to file a complaint.

The incident took place at Talaw Pali in Thane on Thursday night when the couple was seated in Talaw Pali in Thane when the three arrived at same place and enquired them the same. Following this, they extorted money Rs 40,000 from them for not taking action against them. Follwing this incident, a couple approached the Thane Commissioner of Police for the same.

The police said that Sonali Marathe (a woman constable), Ambikar (a police constable), and the name of the third constable were not known. All three were posted at the headquarters of the Thane Commissioner’s office.
