Thane Crime: ACB Books Kalwa Talathi For Demanding ₹40,000 Bribe For Land Mutation

Thane: The Thane Anti-Corruption Bureau booked a Talathi who was posted in the Kalwa Talathi office for demanding a bribe of Rs 40,000 for allegedly facilitating land mutation. The accused has been identified as Siddhi Santosh Pathkar, who is posted at the Kalwa office of the Thane Tahsildar.

The ACB officials said that the complainant, who deals with the housing society, works. The complainant had submitted the 7/12 of the society's land to the Talathi Revenues Department. However, the mutation had been pending for a long time. Following this, the accused demanded Rs 50,000 from the complainant for the same.

The complainant approached the ACB office in Thane to file a complaint. On April 23, upon verification, it was learned that she was demanded Rs 50,000; later it was negotiated and settled for Rs 40,000. An FIR has been registered against her under the relevant sections of the Prevention of Corruption Act at the Thane Nagar Police Station.

Madhavi Rajekumbhar, Deputy Superintendent of ACB, said, "Upon verification of the complaint filed by the complainant, it was found that she demanded money from the complainant. Following the successful verification, we filed an FIR against her. So far, no arrests have been made."
