Thane Crime: 2 Habitual Robbers Arrested For Snatching Gold Chains Across Multiple Cities; 15 Cases Uncovered
The Vartak Nagar police arrested two habitual robbers for allegedly snatching gold chains and mangalsutra across the Thane, Navi Mumbai, and Mumbai localities. The arrested accused are identified as Jafar Yusuf alias Chavan (26) and Sandeep Prasad (20), both residents of the Ambivli area in Kalyan East.

Thane: The Vartak Nagar police arrested two habitual robbers for allegedly snatching gold chains and mangalsutra across the Thane, Navi Mumbai, and Mumbai localities. The arrested accused are identified as Jafar Yusuf alias Chavan (26) and Sandeep Prasad (20), both residents of the Ambivli area in Kalyan East.
The police unearthed a total of fifteen cases including robbery and bodily offenses against them at various police stations, such as Khadakpada police, Navghar police, Kalwa police, Chitalsar police, and Vartak Nagar police station.
According to the police, the complainant named Vandana Mane (56), a resident of Thane, was on her morning walk on March 13 when an unknown person on a motorcycle approached her, snatched her gold chain, and pushed her to the floor before fleeing the scene. Following the incident, the complainant approached the police station and filed an FIR against unknown individuals.
The police swung into action. A team was formed by senior police inspector Rajkumar Wakchaure. They started to investigate the matter. The investigation officer stated that they alerted local informers about it.
They were reviewing the CCTV footage installed in the nearby locations such as Kharegaon toll Naka, Chitalsar, Kapurbawadi, Mumbra, Daighar-Manpada, and Ambernath road. Based on the CCTV footage, they got clues and circulated them across the police station.
They arrested the suspects in Kalyan on April 2. During interrogation, it was revealed that he confessed to the robbery and other bodily offenses. A total of fifteen offenses were uncovered.
