'Rename Teen Hath Naka As Dharmaveer Anand Dighe Saheb': Transport Minister Pratap Sarnaik Pens Thane Metro Line Names Suggestions To Deputy CM Eknath Shinde

Thane: The Transport Minister of Maharashtra Pratap Sarnaik, has raised concerns regarding the naming of metro stations in Thane and Mira-Bhayander, claiming that the names were decided by MMRDA officials without consulting local citizens and landowners. He has proposed renaming a station to Dharmaveer Anand Dighe Saheb Station instead of Teen Haat Naka and has sent a letter to Deputy Chief Minister Eknath Shinde with a list of new name suggestions.

Metro projects from Wadala to Kasarvadavali (Metro-4), Dahisar to Mira-Bhayander (Metro-9), and Gaymukh to Shivaji Chowk (Mira-Road, Metro-10) are underway to enhance transportation options for residents. Construction for the project is expected to be completed by the end of this year.

Sarnaik emphasizes that many villages and tribal areas in the Ovala-Majivda constituency, particularly the Agri-Koli community, have significantly contributed to the development of Thane and Mira-Bhayander.

He criticizes MMRDA for not including local voices in the naming process and has suggested that names reflecting the culture and heritage of the area be considered, such as naming a car shed after Velankani Mata due to the presence of an ancient temple in Dongri and Kaparadev at Mogharpada for Metro 4.

Dahisar to Mira-Bhayander (Metro-9) Station Names: 1) Dahisar 2) Pandurang Wadi 3) Mira Gaon 4) Kashigaon 5) Saibaba Nagar 6) P.P.U. instead of Medatiya Nagar Nanasaheb Dharmadhikari Station 7) Shaheed Bhagat Singh Nagar Udyan 8) Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose Maidan Station.
