Shiv Sena (UBT) MLA Anil Parab has levelled serious allegations of sand theft against Minister of State for Home and Revenue, Yogesh Kadam. Parab claimed he possessed evidence supporting his accusations and questioned whether the state government would take strong action against one of its own ministers.
Speaking in the State Legislative Council, Parab said, “Minister Kadam seized sand illegally. According to government policy, the seized sand should have been handed over to the tehsildar and five brass of it distributed to the poor. But that procedure was not followed.”
He further challenged Revenue Minister Chandrashekhar Bawankule, asking, “Will you act against your own junior minister just as you would against a talathi, tehsildar, or RTO officer? I will provide five such cases within the next three days, along with evidence. Will the government show its toughness now?”
Parab claimed he would submit documentation, visit records, and copies of reports proving Minister Kadam’s alleged misconduct. “Don’t just go after small fry—show courage by acting against a big figure. If you do, we will appreciate your boldness,” Parab told Bawankule.
In response, Minister Yogesh Kadam dismissed the allegations and issued a counter-challenge to Parab. “Let him submit the evidence to the Chairman of the Legislative Council. If he proves the charges, I am ready to resign. This is my open challenge,” Kadam told reporters.
He questioned the legitimacy of the accusations, saying, “Has Parab even seen the CCTV footage of the trucks being stopped? He hasn’t mentioned where the incident occurred. If he fails to provide evidence before the end of the monsoon session, I will demand action against him. He must apologize.”
Regarding Parab’s allegations of sand theft in the Konkan region, Bawankule stated, “If MLC Parab provides specific details, I will make a formal statement before the conclusion of the session.”
