Mumbai: A sales manager from State Bank of India’s Thane branch was allegedly abducted by three persons for a ransom of Rs 5 lakh on June 25 while he was promoting the bank’s credit card scheme at Andheri metro station.

About The Case

The victim has been identified as Shivam Singh, 20. The three accused – Balkishan, Sagar, and Akhilesh, all aged between 25 and 30 – have been arrested. The police said one of them, Balkishan, is Singh’s colleague and the three had been visiting his residence for the past month. Senior police inspector Umesh Machindar said the abduction took place due to an alleged pending loan of Rs 2.5 lakh that the accused claimed Singh had taken.

On June 25, at around 9.30 pm, Singh’s cousin Suraj Singh received a call from Shivam’s mobile, with Balkishan demanding the ransom and threatening to kill Shivam. Suraj pleaded with Balkishan and tried to call back the whole night without any solution.

Suraj said Shivam was taken to a park between Goregaon and Malad and released the next morning. The police have registered a case against the trio under Sections 140(2) (kidnapping or abduction to murder or for ransom), 3(5) (general explanation), and 351(2) (criminal intimidation) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita.
