It is very rare that a person receives a new age of life, not at a hospital but at an airport. The humane act of saving a person’s life was recorded at Mumbai’s Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Airport (CSMIA) after swift action from a team of doctors revived the heartbeats of a 57-year-old passenger, who suffered cardiac arrest at the airport.
On Thursday, Rahul Rai from Gujarat’s Rajkot, suffered a sudden cardiac arrest and collapsed near the check-in counter of CSMIA’s Terminal-1. Responding without hesitation, paramedic Komal Sonawane and Dr. Shalini Soundar Pandian from CSMIA’s medical team rushed to the scene and immediately began life-saving cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR), administering two automated external defibrillator (AED) shocks on-site.
Their timely and professional intervention successfully revived his heartbeat and consciousness within minutes. Once stabilised, the passenger was transported to Nanavati Hospital through CSMIA’s advanced life support ambulance for further medical care. The swift and heroic actions of the medical team helped save a life when every second counted.
