Prithvi Shaw selfie row: Influencer Sapna Gill files complaint against cricketer, his friends for outraging modesty

Mumbai: After being released from jail in the assault case, social media influencer Sapna Gill is preparing to take legal action against cricketer Prithvi Shaw and his friends under the sections of molestation and assault. 

Gill's advocate Kashif Ali Khan has filed a written complaint to the police saying that Shaw abused her and those who were with her during the time of the incident.

Zone 8 DCP Dixit Gedam said they are investigating the complaint.

What is the controversy about?

A video of her brawl with the cricketer had gone viral on social media after which criminal cases have been filed against each of the two parties involved. Later the police arrested Gill. 

The dispute between Prithvi Shaw and Sapna Gill took place on the intervening night of last Tuesday-Wednesday at the Santacruz in Hotel in Mumbai, where both had gone to have dinner with their friends. Shaw had alleged that Gill and her friends forcibly tried to take selfies with him. There was a ruckus on his refusal. On this, the hotel manager threw Gill and his friends out.

After this, when Shaw and his friends came out of the hotel, Gill along with friends attacked them with a baseball bat and broke the glass of the car. In this case, Shaw's friend lodged an FIR at the Oshiwara police station, after which Gill and friends were arrested.

Sapna Gill's claims

Gill in her complaint said that she had seen Shaw on February 15 in an inebriated state; her friend Shobit approached Shaw for selfie and alleged that the skipper met him with 'instant hostility' and claimed that he damaged her friend's phone.

Gill stood firm on her previous claim and said she did not know Shaw and that she intervened when she spotted her friend being beaten up.

She alleged that Shaw toucher her inappropriately at the time and pushed her. She also told them that she would register a complaint and claimed that the cricketer and his friends begged her and requested not to file complaint.
