Presidential polls: Droupadi Murmu set to get 69,300 vote value from Maharashtra with Thackeray faction’s support

BJP and Shinde camp legislators and MPs will accord a grand welcome in the customary tribal style to the NDA’s Presidential nominee Droupadi Murmu on Thursday. Murmu will be in the city’s five star hotel from 3 to 5.30 pm.
At the same time, after Uddhav Thackeray led Shiv Sena’s decision to vote for Murmu, the Shinde-Fadnavis alliance is confident that Maharashtra will emerge as one of the leading states with high vote value to the NDA nominee. Chief Minister Eknath Shinde, Deputy Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis, union ministers Nitin Gadkari, Narayan Rane, Piyush Goyal, Raosaheb Danve, Bharati Pawar and Kapil Patil along with legislators and MPs will be present.
As per the information compiled by the Maharashtra Legislature Secretariat, of the 287 legislators (one seat is vacant following the death of Shiv Sena MLA Ramesh Latke), 180 legislators comprising 165 of Shinde camp, BJP and independents and 15 of Thackeray faction will vote for Murmu. The value of one vote of MLA is 175 which means Murmu is expected to get 31,500 of the total 50,225 vote value.
Further, of the total 67 MPs, 48 are from Lok Sabha and 19 from the Rajya Sabha, a total of 54 belong to the BJP, Shinde camp and Thackeray faction while 13 from NCP and Congress. The vote value of each MP is 700 which means the total value of votes for MPs from lower and upper house will be 46,900. The Shinde-Fadnavis alliance hopes with Shiv Sena’s support Murmu can get 37,800 of the total value of 46,900 vote value of all MPs in the state.
According to the legislature sources, of the total 97,125 vote value of legislators and MPs, Murmu will get 69,300.
At the all India level, In the electoral college the vote value of 5,49,442 is enough to elect the President. he electoral college comprises 4,896 legislators. This includes the 776 Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha members and 4,120 MLAs. However the number this time would be 4,809 as there is no assembly in Jammu and Kashmir which used to have 87 MLAs.
