Mumbai: The Petition Group has complained against Vinayak Vispute, the assistant municipal commissioner (AMC) of G/North ward, for banning video recording in the ward premises.

In a letter signed by Dr GR Vora, Kamlakar Shenoy, Clarence Pinto, and others, the group referred to the FPJ's June 24 report. The story carried a photo of the notice, which clearly showed that Vispute had banned the use of phones, etc, in the civic premises. “This is plain dadagiri” Dr Vora observed.

The group pointed out that this was in contempt of a Bombay High Court ruling, which allows for the recording of video of meetings with public officials. They further said there is also a GR permitting video recording of meetings. Dr Vora said the group will move the high court for contempt against Vispute if he does not remove the board immediately.

Shenoy and other activists have been regularly video recording their meetings with even police officials without any hitch. Vispute did not respond to queries from the FPJ. He was earlier posted in H/West ward, Bandra. At that time, several builders had campaigned to have him removed for several reasons.
