Panvel Firefighters Trained In Animal Rescue Under Mission Rabies Program

In an effort to strengthen emergency response capabilities, the Panvel Municipal Corporation organized a two-day animal and bird rescue training workshop for Fire Department personnel.

 The training, conducted with the support of Mission Rabies, was held on April 28 and 29 at the Adya Krantikarak Vasudev Balwant Phadke Natya Mandir.

"The workshop aimed to equip firefighters with the skills needed to rescue animals and birds that are often trapped in various urban settings, including accidents or storm drains," said an official. The initiative was launched to address these challenges and create a well-trained team capable of handling such situations efficiently.

As part of the Zero Rabies Elimination Program, the training was led by experts from Mission Rabies, Dr. Shashikant Jadhav and Dr. Ashwin Sushilan. They provided comprehensive guidance on safe rescue methods, animal behavior observation, and measures to prevent zoonotic diseases, including rabies.

The training is expected to enhance the safety and effectiveness of animal rescues during emergencies. Local officials expressed their confidence that this initiative would lead to more efficient and secure rescues in the future.

The program was organized by Assistant Commissioner Dr. Rupali Mane, Dr. B. N. Gite, and Dr. Madhulika P. Lad, Deputy Commissioner Dr. Vaibhav Vidhate and Chief Medical Officer Dr. Anand Gosavi.
