Palghar, Maharashtra: The Integrated Tribal Development Project (ITDP) office in Jawhar has initiated a massive tree plantation drive, "Ek Zad Dharti Abasaathi" (One Tree for the Earth to Inhabit), aiming to plant 20,000 trees. This ambitious undertaking is the brainchild of Project Officer and Assistant Collector Dr. Apurva Basur.
The initiative targets 30 government ashram schools, 18 aided ashram schools, two Eklavya Model Residential Schools, and 16 government boys' and girls' hostels within the project's jurisdiction. Each school and hostel has been assigned a specific plantation target for their premises. The ITDP office has urged headmasters and wardens to commence tree planting immediately, marking the official launch of this campaign.
Beyond just planting, the initiative also focuses on awareness and conservation. Rallies were organized, and parent meetings were held to educate the community about the Prime Minister Dharti Aaba Janjatiya Gram Utkarsh Abhiyan and the importance of tree protection and conservation.
The success of this program is attributed to the guidance of Dr. Basur and the dedicated efforts of Assistant Project Officers Subhash Pardeshi, Deepak Tike, and Tirupati Sangvikar, along with Planning Officer Satish Raste, Junior Education Extension Officer Shewale, Devre, all parent officers, headmasters, and wardens.
