Palghar: A police constable was allegedly assaulted by a group of individuals while performing his duty in Naigaon (East) in the early hours of May 16, 2025. The incident occurred around 12:40 am near Prince Dhaba, where the officer intervened to address a traffic hazard caused by dangerously parked heavy dumpers.
About The Case
According to the First Information Report (FIR), Constable Somnath Vikram Bodkhe instructed the drivers of two dumpers to move their vehicles. This request reportedly triggered a violent altercation involving multiple individuals.

The situation escalated when the driver of one of the dumpers, Sunil Raghunath Rathod, and another accused, Karan Mahadev Chavan, allegedly assaulted Constable Bodkhe. Rathod reportedly grabbed the officer’s uniform and bit him on the right arm. Other individuals, identified as Savita Rathod, Rutik Rathod, Anil Rathod, Pravin Rathod, Kushal Chavan, Pooja Kushal Chavan, and Rekha Apparao Chavan, allegedly joined the attack, verbally abusing and physically threatening Constable Bodkhe and his colleague, Constable Agivale.
The assailants are accused of forming an unlawful assembly with the intent to obstruct the officer from performing his official duties. The group reportedly attempted to intimidate and harm the officers, disrupting government work and endangering public safety.

The FIR has been registered under multiple sections of the Bharatiya Nyay Sanhita (BNS), pertaining to assault on a public servant, criminal intimidation, unlawful assembly, and obstruction of duty.
No arrests have been made at the time of reporting. The investigation is being led by Sub-Inspector Roshan Devre, under the supervision of Assistant Commissioner of Police Navnath Ghogare. Legal action is being pursued against all nine named accused, as well as two to three other unidentified individuals involved in the incident.
