Palghar, Maharashtra: A government bus driver was assaulted in broad daylight at Agarwal Bus Stop in Vasai East on July 25, prompting police to register a case under multiple sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) for obstructing public duty and assaulting a government employee.

Swift Dzire Driver and Three Others Assault State Bus Driver Over Road Blockage in Vasai East

According to the FIR registered at Waliv Police Station, the incident occurred around 2:00 pm when the complainant, Kamlesh Kumar Shivshankar Gupta (42), a government bus driver, was driving on the Sativali-Virar route. As the bus reached the bus stop, a Swift Dzire car allegedly parked across the road, blocking the bus’s passage.

When Gupta honked to alert the car driver, the situation escalated. The driver of the car, reportedly enraged, pulled Gupta out of the government bus and physically assaulted him with punches while verbally abusing him. Three unidentified men accompanying the car driver also joined in the attack.

Bus Conductor Injured While Trying to Protect Driver; Public Transport Disrupted

The bus conductor, who attempted to intervene and protect the driver, was also assaulted and injured in the scuffle. Due to the attack, the complainant was unable to continue his official transport duties, causing disruption to government services.

Case Filed at Waliv Police Station Under BNS Sections 121(1), 132, 351(2), 351(3), and 352

Following the incident, a formal complaint was filed at the Waliv Police Station. Police have registered a case under Sections 121(1), 132, 351(2), 351(3), and 352 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita. While no arrests have been made yet, police confirmed that the car and its registration details have been identified, and investigations are underway to trace the accused.

Authorities Warn: Obstructing Public Duty a Serious Offense Under Law

Authorities emphasized that any obstruction or assault on public servants in the course of duty is a serious offense and will be dealt with strictly as per law.
