Mumbai: The state government has announced a financial assistance of Rs 5 lakh to the families of a total of 6 people from Maharashtra who lost their lives in the cowardly terrorist attack in Pahalgam and an assistance of Rs 50,000 to the injured. Expressing deep sorrow over the incident, CM Fadnavis said, "A total of 6 people from Maharashtra lost their lives in the cowardly terrorist attack in Pahalgam."

Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis stated that a special flight is being arranged to bring back tourists from Maharashtra who are currently stranded in Kashmir due to the incident. He confirmed that all expenses for the flight will be covered by the state government, ensuring a safe and swift return for the affected travellers.

The government’s swift response reflects its commitment to supporting citizens in times of crisis, both through financial relief and immediate logistical assistance.

The Chief Minister also shared the details of the transportation of the mortal remains. Sanjay Lele and Dilip Desale’s bodies are being flown to Mumbai on an Air India flight scheduled to depart Srinagar at 12:15 PM. Hemant Joshi and Atul Mone will also be brought to Mumbai, with their flight departing Srinagar at 1:15 PM. Pune residents Kaustubh Ganbote and Santosh Jagdale will be flown to Pune on a separate flight leaving Srinagar at 6:00 PM.

To coordinate the arrangements, Minister's Adv. Ashish Shelar and Mangalprabhat Lodha will be present at the Mumbai airport, while Minister Madhuri Misal has been assigned responsibilities at the Pune airport. Minister Girish Mahajan is on his way to Srinagar to oversee the situation and assist the remaining stranded tourists from Maharashtra.

The state government is working closely with the Jammu and Kashmir administration and the Ministry of Civil Aviation to ensure the safe return of other stranded tourists and to extend all necessary support to the victims’ families.

PM Modi On Pahalgam Terror Attack

In response to the horrific incident, Prime Minister Narendra Modi, who cut short his visit to Saudi Arabia, strongly condemned the attack, calling it a “heinous act” and reaffirmed his resolve to bring the perpetrators to justice. He instructed Home Minister Amit Shah to personally assess the situation.

Meanwhile, security forces have launched an extensive search operation in the valley to track down those responsible. Survivors and the victims’ families are struggling to cope with the emotional fallout, many haunted by the trauma of the attack and the reality that they narrowly survived.
