Jalgaon: Former Maharashtra Minister and NCP leader Eknath Khadse has demanded a Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) probe into the alleged honeytrap cases of some officials and ministers in the state.
Khadse claimed that the Maharashtra government is trying to suppress the issue as they fear that the names of their own ministers can surface in the case.
"CBI should probe honeytrap cases. The government is trying to suppress it. They are worried that the names of their own ministers can surface. The name of Minister Girish Mahajan is also surfacing, but whether he was involved or not will only become certain after the probe. Why is the government investigating honeytrap cases at such a slow pace?" Khadse told reporters.
"In Nashik, the names of 72 officers have surfaced in a honey trap case. There is a possibility that government officials may be involved," he added.

Earlier, Shiv Sena (UBT) leader Sanjay Raut also made similar allegations against the Fadnavis government.
"Chief Minister Devendraji misleads even in the Legislative Assembly. He said there is no honey trap in Maharashtra: Let there be a CBI inquiry into this one photo! The truth will be revealed! 4 ministers. Many officials are trapped! 4 young MPs who broke away from Shiv Sena (at that time) fled because of this very trap," Raut alleged in a post on X.
Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis has rejected the allegations and informed the legislative assembly earlier this month that no case of honeytrap has come to light in the state.
