Navi Mumbai To Celebrate 358th Gurupurab Of Guru Gobind Singhji With Grand Procession; Thousands Expected To Join
Accordingly, on January 4 a huge road procession is to be taken which will see participation from thousands of members of the Sikh Community. In keeping with the yearly practice, the procession will commence from Gurudwara Dasmesh Darbar, sector 23 Koparkhairane and will culminate at sector 9 A Gurudwara Shri Guru Singh Sabha, Vashi.
The 358th birth anniversary (Gurupurab) of Guru Gobind Singhji, the tenth spiritual leader of the Sikh Community is to be celebrated in a grand manner in Navi Mumbai.
The Supreme Council of Navi Mumbai Gurudwara, a federation body of all the Gurudwaras in the city has chalked out a detailed plan in keeping with the day’s significance.

The nearly 4 kilometre journey will have participation from the nine Gurudwaras of Navi Mumbai as well as Mumbai. The procession will have a person carrying the flag Nisan Sahib followed by playing of drum (nagada) announcing the arrival of Guru Grant Sahib. The Panch Pyaare will lead the procession amidst recitation of Kirtans.
The birth anniversary of the saint is on January 6.
“Two days prior to the birth anniversary, a grand rally in honour of Guru Gobind Singhji will be taken out. This is a major event wherein thousands participate to recite Gurbani Shabad kirtans and we have procured the required permission from the police department to conduct the event,” said the General secretary of the Supreme Council, MS Randhawa.
This is the 25th year of the council taking out road procession. Dress code for the procession is white color outfits with Saffron color Dupattas or Turbans.
The road map for the rally includes travelling through Teen Tanki, Koparkhairane, enroute Kalash Udyan and Blue Diamond Hotel in sector 29 Vashi, moving through sector 14 and 15 of Vashi and passing Vashi Fire Brigade, entering the Guru Gobind Marg via Lakshadeep hospital and terminating at Vashi Gurudwara. The procession will commence from 3 pm onwards and will feature the daring artillery performance by the Gatka Team besides the arrangement for food and water. Both at the beginning of the procession and at the culmination point there will be langars served
