To mark the official ratification of the DPS Flamingo Conservation Reserve a victory Parade is set to take place on Sunday, April 20, 2025, from 8 AM to 9 AM at DPS Lake, Service Road (off Palm Beach Road).
The event is being organized to hail the long-awaited recognition and protection of the DPS wetlands, which are home to thousands of migratory flamingos and other avian species.
Citizens, conservationists, and nature lovers are expected to attend the event in large numbers.
"Participants are encouraged to follow the preferred dress code of pink to symbolically align with the flamingos—the pink avian guests that have inspired this conservation effort," said the organisors.
Attendees are requested to bring their own caps and drinking water for the event.
"This celebration marks a milestone in Navi Mumbai's environmental movement, and citizens are invited to join in solidarity for nature and wildlife protection," said B N Kumar, director of NatConnect Foundation.
“This conservation reserve tag only a beginning and we have miles to go before all major wetlands of Navi Mumbai such as Panje, Bhendkhal, Belpada (in Uran) and the NRI and TS Chanakya wetlands in Nerul are also declared as either bird sanctuaries or protected properties,” Kumar said.
