Navi Mumbai: A long-standing dispute over a demolished garage led to a violent clash in Taloja on Friday afternoon, leaving five men injured, including a witness who tried to intervene. According to ACP Vikram Kadam ( Kharghar division), the incident occurred around 2:50 pm on August 8 near Farhan Hardware on the road from Taloja village to Mannan Colony. The attackers, allegedly led by Abdul Rauf Abdul Razzaq Patel (60) and his associates — Afnan Patel, Safwan Patel, and Navman Munaf Patel — confronted members of the Sayyed family, accusing them of lodging complaints with CIDCO that resulted in the demolition of their motor repair garage three times. Armed with sharp knives, iron rods, wooden bamboos, and sticks, the group allegedly assaulted Rafel Hanif Sayyed (34), Saif Hanif Sayyed (24), Salman Sufiyan Sayyed (19), and Safwan Karim Tidare (27), causing serious head, abdominal, and limb injuries. When complainant Ammar Haroon Madar and witness Naufil Hanif Sayyed (40) attempted to break up the fight, they too were beaten and threatened. All the injured are currently admitted to a hospital in Kharghar and are said to be stable.
According to the complaint registered, the accused hurled abuses and warned the victims, “You complained to CIDCO and got my garage demolished, I will see you.”
A steel knife cover was seized from the scene. The accused Abdul Rauf Patel, was arrested by Friday night, while the others remain absconding. The case has been registered under multiple sections, including attempt to murder, unlawful assembly, rioting, and criminal intimidation, along with provisions of the Maharashtra Police Act.
