A sudden closure of a municipal tax payment centre in Seawoods has led to significant inconvenience for thousands of local residents, prompting a formal request from citizen group Sairaj Pratishthan for the centre’s immediate reopening.
In a letter addressed to the Navi Mumbai Municipal Corporation (NMMC) Commissioner, Aditya Bharat Jadhav, President of Sairaj Pratishthan, highlighted the problems faced by citizens due to the abrupt shutdown of the tax payment facility at Panch Haus, Sector 44, Seawoods. The centre had previously enabled residents to conveniently pay their water bills and property taxes.
The letter notes that, following discussions with housing society representatives during a public outreach campaign, concerns were raised about the unexpected closure. Residents now have to travel long distances to alternate centres, creating unnecessary hardship, especially for senior citizens and working individuals.
