Navi Mumbai: As part of the week-long celebrations for World Environment Day 2025, the Navi Mumbai Municipal Corporation (NMMC) organised a special awareness drive today at the vegetable and fish markets of Diwale Gaon in the Belapur ward.
The initiative was carried out under the leadership of Commissioner Dr. Kailas Shinde and aimed to promote sustainable habits among local citizens. The event focused on encouraging shoppers and vendors to ditch single-use plastic bags and adopt environmentally friendly alternatives.
To drive the message home, NMMC distributed free eco-friendly cloth bags to the market-goers. The corporation also used the opportunity to educate the public on the long-term environmental impact of plastic waste and the importance of making small yet meaningful lifestyle changes.
