Navi Mumbai: The Navi Mumbai Municipal Corporation (NMMC) has declared a total of 501 buildings as dangerous within its jurisdiction for the year 2025–26, following a detailed structural survey conducted by relevant departments. The announcement was made via the civic body's official account on X (formerly Twitter) on June 18.

The buildings have been categorised based on their level of danger and the urgency of required repairs or evacuation. According to the data shared, 51 buildings have been classified under the ‘C-1’ category, which are considered extremely dangerous and uninhabitable and require immediate eviction.

Another 104 buildings fall under the ‘C-2A’ category, meaning they require vacating the building and structural repairs. Meanwhile, 297 buildings have been listed under the ‘C-2B’ category, which indicates that they require structural repairs but do not need to be vacated. The remaining 49 buildings are categorised under ‘C-3’, needing only minor repairs.

The full list of dangerous buildings can be accessed on the Navi Mumbai Municipal Corporation’s official website http://nmmc.gov.in. To view the list, users can navigate to the 'General Information' section, under ‘Departments’, and then check the ‘Encroachment Department’ section.

In another news story from Navi Mumbai, the Navi Mumbai Municipal Corporation (NMMC) kicked off the new academic session vibrantly and festively by hosting the ‘Chala Shalet Jauya’ (Let’s Go to School) enrolment festival across all 80 municipal schools. The event featured a variety of engaging and heartfelt welcome activities, making the first day of school special for both new students and their parents.

Each school greeted incoming students with roses and chocolates at the entrance, creating a warm and friendly atmosphere. Traditional lezim performances and the energetic sounds of dhol-tasha drums added to the excitement, as students were led in a ceremonial procession from the school gates to their classrooms.

Entrances were decorated with vibrant rangoli designs, and the entire school environment was enhanced with colourful balloons and festoons, bringing a festive spirit to the occasion.
