Navi Mumbai: Residents of Nerul and surrounding areas will once again gather on Sunday, from 8:30 am to 9 am near Red Rose Apartments in Sector 27, Nerul. This marks the third consecutive Sunday of peaceful citizen action demanding that CIDCO fulfill its responsibility of clearing debris and restoring the ecologically vital Lotus Lake.
CIDCO has been repeatedly urged to act, but its inaction has prompted growing frustration among concerned citizens. In response, a series of Sunday gatherings have been organized as part of a larger movement to hold authorities accountable and to protect this important wetland, said activist Sunil Agarwal.
The gathering will begin at 8.30 am, when participants assemble at the junction near Red Rose Apartments in Sector 27, Nerul. At 8.35 am, the group will proceed with a symbolic walk towards the debris dumping site at Lotus Lake. By 8.45 am, new participants will be welcomed, and organizers will provide a briefing on the actions taken so far, the current status of the lake, and the plans moving forward. The event will conclude at 8.55 am with a vote of thanks, followed by a group photograph.
Organizers stress the importance of community engagement and collective action in environmental conservation. They urge more citizens to join and stand in solidarity for the protection of Lotus Lake.
