Navi Mumbai News: Khopoli Police Arrest Hotel Manager In Gurugram For Embezzling ₹11.5 Lakh; Full Amount Recovered

Navi Mumbai: Khopoli Police have successfully arrested a hotel manager accused of embezzling Rs 11.5 lakh from his employer and fleeing the state. The arrest was made in Gurugram, Haryana, and the entire stolen amount has been recovered, officials confirmed.

The incident took place on February 3, when the accused, Sumit Jhaller Prasad Pandey, working as a manager at Shri Gurudas Café located along the Pune-Mumbai Expressway near Dahivali village, was entrusted with Rs 11.5 lakh in cash.

The café owner, Bhaskar Mahabal Shetty from Yerwada, Pune, had handed over the amount to Pandey to be deposited safely. However, instead of completing the task, Pandey absconded with the money for personal gain, said police.

Following the incident, Khopoli Police on February 4. Raigad Superintendent of Police Anchal Dalal, Additional SP Abhijit Shivthare, and Sub-Divisional Police Officer Vikram Kadam provided key guidance in the investigation. Senior Police Inspector Shital Raut of Khopoli Police Station led the probe, with police constable Sujit Mali and other personnel assisting.

Using technical surveillance, the investigation team traced the accused to Laxmi Garden, Pataudi Chowki area, under Shivaji Nagar Police Station in Gurugram. "A police team traveled to Haryana, located the accused, and took him into custody," said Raut.

During interrogation, Pandey admitted to the crime, and the police recovered the entire embezzled amount of Rs 11.5 lakh from him, Raut said.
