Navi Mumbai News: Indigenous Fruit Trees Planted In Belapur Sector 8 To Boost Biodiversity Under Govt's Amrut Plantation Drive
In an effort to promote biodiversity and enhance Navi Mumbai’s green cover, a plantation drive of indigenous fruit-bearing trees was conducted near the holding pond in Sector 8, Belapur, under the Maharashtra Government’s Amrut Tree Plantation initiative and Majhi Vasundhara Abhiyan 6.0.

Navi Mumbai: In an effort to promote biodiversity and enhance Navi Mumbai’s green cover, a plantation drive of indigenous fruit-bearing trees was conducted near the holding pond in Sector 8, Belapur, under the Maharashtra Government’s Amrut Tree Plantation initiative and Majhi Vasundhara Abhiyan 6.0.
NMMC Aims to Support Urban Wildlife, Green Cover
The initiative, carried out under the guidance of Navi Mumbai Municipal Commissioner Dr. Kailas Shinde, aims to support urban wildlife by planting native trees that can serve as natural habitats for birds and animals, said a spokesperson from NMMC.
25 Fruit Trees Including Jamun, Guava and Cashew Planted
A total of 25 fruit trees, including varieties like Jamun, Bakul, Guava, Custard Apple, and Cashew, were planted during the drive. The activity took place in the presence of Deputy Commissioner of Garden Department (Zone I), Kishanrao Palande.
NMMC Officials, NGO Anulom Participate in Initiative
Members and office-bearers of the NGO Anulom participated in large numbers, contributing to the plantation effort. The selection of native species was specifically intended to foster long-term ecological balance and sustainability within the urban landscape.
