A major burglary took place at a wine shop in Vashi village, where unidentified thieves stole foreign liquor bottles and cash worth a total of Rs 17.58 lakh. The incident occurred in the early hours of Friday, and Vashi Police have registered a case and initiated an investigation.
The theft was discovered on Friday morning when a staff member of the "V5 Living Liquids" wine shop, located in the Siddhivinayak Building in Vashi village, arrived at work around 9:00 a.m. He found the shop’s shutter broken and the lock damaged. Upon entering, he noticed that the racks of liquor bottles were empty.
According to the complaint filed by the shop owner, the burglars gained entry by forcibly opening the shutter after the store was closed at 11:00 p.m. on July 10. They looted Rs 20,000 in cash and a significant stock of foreign liquor bottles, bringing the total value of the stolen goods to Rs 17.58 lakh.
Following the complaint, police registered an FIR under theft charges and are currently scanning CCTV footage from the surrounding area to identify the suspects. A detailed inventory conducted by the shop staff confirmed the extent of the theft.
"We are investigating the case. The CCTV footages and the finger prints are being studied to trace the accused," a police officer from Vashi police station said.
