Navi Mumbai: The Disaster Management Cell of the Navi Mumbai Municipal Corporation (NMMC) reported that at least five trees were knocked down in the city in the last 24 hours because of intense rainfall. The city experienced an average precipitation of 44.48 mm, leading the municipal authorities to stay vigilant. During this time, one call regarding a fire emergency was received.
Belapur received the most rainfall among NMMC wards, totaling 52.04 mm, while Nerul came next with 49.27 mm. The water level of the Morbe Dam has hit 73.69 meters, while its maximum capacity stands at 88 metres.
As of June 1, 230 mm of rainfall has been recorded in the catchment area of the dam located in Khalapur Taluka, Raigad. The NMMC reported that a high tide of 4.21 meters is anticipated at 3:31 PM today.
The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) has announced an orange alert for the districts of Thane and Raigad. Regions including Panvel, Uran, Vashi, and Belapur encountered heavy rainfall, along with thunderstorms and gusty winds.
According to reports by Lokmat, Municipal Commissioner Dr. Kailas Shinde has directed all civic departments to stay on high alert. Department heads and officials were dispatched throughout the city this morning to guarantee prompt support.
