Navi Mumbai: The toddler from Taloja who had gone missing on Tuesday from her residence was found dead inside a bag on Wednesday late at night.
The child, aged two years and 10 months, identified as Harshika Sharma was found dead inside a bag that was kept on the loft of the bathroom, confirmed senior police inspector Pravin Bhagat from Taloja police station. "The family had found the bag late in the night on Wednesday. We are investigating further," Bhagat said.
About The Case
According to police sources, the bachelors staying in nearby flat of the building are being interrogated. Few articles found in the bag apart from the body were similar to the ones being used by the bachelor men due to which they are being interrogated. Prima facie, she was killed by being strangulated with a rope. The cops are awaiting post mortem report to confirm if there was any other assault.
The child lived with her parents and elder brother on the second floor of Mauli Krupa Building in Devicha Pada. On Tuesday afternoon, she was playing at the common verandah at around 12.30 pm. According to the initial complaint registered by the mother for kidnapping, she had stepped inside the house for a brief period when she went missing.

The mother looked for her till late evening in the nearby vicinity and then approached Taloja police with the complaint alleging kidnap. Later, the police had looked for the child and also urged citizens to approach them if they found her.
Taloja police along with unit III of crime branch and Anti Human Trafficking Unit (AHTU) are jointly investigating the case.
