About The Case
The victim, Vatsala Tandel, a resident of Ulwe, was on her way to attend a haldi ceremony in Ghansoli. With local trains on the Trans-Harbour route suspended, she boarded the NMMT bus no. 20 from Nerul station around 11 a.m. She had placed her gold mangalsutra and necklace inside her handbag.
During the journey, a group of women accompanied by children boarded the crowded bus. Exploiting the commotion, the suspects surrounded Tandel, and one of the children was made to sit beside her.
