The All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen (AIMIM) will contest all elections in Maharashtra, said its chief Asaduddin Owaisi on day one of the party's national convention in Navi Mumbai on Saturday.
“We will contest the parliamentary election, including the Aurangabad seat. The decision on other seats will also be taken in time,” he said. However, he skipped questions on alliance with any regional party for civic or parliament elections.
Owaisi also claimed that the Sakal Hindu Samaj has the support of the state government.
Owaisi mentions of Supreme Court order on Hate Speech
The Supreme Court has intervened and directed to take suo moto action on hate speeches, Owaisi pointed out. “We will see whether the Supreme Court direction is followed or not,” he said.
During the two-day national convention, around 1,300 office bearers, MLAs, MPs and the state president will discuss challenges before the party, election preparations, and responsibility for party members.
Junaid-Nasir murder case
Owaisi also raised the issue of the Junaid-Nasir murder case in Haryana and termed it state violence against Muslims, alleging that a section of people has allegedly created hatred against Muslims. If the Rajasthan government had sealed the border, both would be alive today, he contended.
Nasir and Junaid, both residents of Ghatmeeka village in the Bharatpur district of Rajasthan, were allegedly abducted by cow vigilantes on February 15. Their bodies were found in a charred car in Bhiwani in Haryana the next day.
Owaisi slams AAP & BJP
Owaisi also attacked both Delhi Chief Minister and Aam Aadmi Party chief Arvind Kejriwal and the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) over the attack on the Ajnala police station by supporters of radical preacher Amritpal Singh.
On the changing of the name of Aurangabad, Imtiaz Jaleel, a member of parliament from Aurangabad said that as the BJP does not have much to say on development, it always uses the emotional card of the name change of a city, or a garden or a railway station before the election. “We must think about the repercussions of changing names. The financial burden on the common person. From common people to students going abroad, everyone has to change the details in Aadhar card and other documents. Who will bear the financial burden of common citizens?” Jaleel asked.
