Thane: The Badlapur police have arrested a 30-year-old man for killing his friend for allegedly molesting his wife when he was not home.
About The Case
The accused, Naresh Shambhu Bhagat, 30, from Bihar, resides in Badlapur and got married six years ago. The deceased, Sukant Parida, 29, resided in the same locality and hailed from Odisha. Both were employed as labourers.
The police said that Bhagat initially misled the police, approaching with the information that Parida was under the influence of alcohol and accidentally fell in the bathroom. Preliminary investigation revealed that Parida went to Bhagat’s home and allegedly sexually harassed his wife 15 days ago; she later informed her husband about the act.
Bhagat allegedly hatched a plan to kill his friend and sent his wife to their village in Bihar. On January 10, Bhagat invited Parida for a liquor party, got him inebriated and hit him on the head with a hammer. He then took him to a hospital and alerted the local police, who first lodged an accidental death report.
