Nallasopara Slab Collapse: Mother And Son Rescued, 22 Flats Evacuated After Rainfall Weakens Building

Palghar, Maharashtra: A woman and her 14-year-old son had a narrow escape last night when a portion of their fourth-floor flat's slab collapsed in the Sai Simran building in Achole, Nallasopara. The incident, believed to be triggered by heavy rainfall, fortunately resulted in no injuries.
The Vasai-Virar City Municipal Corporation (VVMC) fire brigade responded swiftly to the 14-year-old residential structure. Firefighters successfully rescued the mother and son from their damaged apartment.
“Vasai and the surrounding areas experienced heavy rainfall, which may have played a role in weakening the structure,” a fire brigade official said.As a precautionary measure, all 22 flats and three shops in the Sai Simran building were evacuated.

This incident follows a separate and tragic slab collapse in Kalyan, in the adjoining Thane district, on the same day, which claimed the lives of six people. Inspections are ongoing in Nallasopara to assess the long-term viability of the Sai Simran building.
