Mumbai–Jalna Vande Bharat Extended To Nanded, Fulfilling Long-Pending Sikh Pilgrim Demand
The decades-old demand, led by the Maharashtra Sikh Association, has been welcomed by lakhs of devotees who visit Hazur Sahib, Nanded — a key Sikh Takht where Guru Gobind Singh Ji spent his final days.

The Railway ministry has approved the extension of the Mumbai–Jalna Vande Bharat Express up to Nanded, marking a moment of immense pride and joy for the Sikh community and the Guru Nanak Leva Sangat across Maharashtra and India. Confirming the development, a senior officer of Central Railway said, "Yes, and it is likely to start shortly."
"This move fulfills a decades-long demand actively led by the Maharashtra Sikh Association (MSA), with the support of several Sikh and social organizations. The announcement has been warmly welcomed by lakhs of devotees who undertake pilgrimages to Hazur Sahib, Nanded — one of the five Takhts (seats of authority) of the Sikh faith — where Guru Gobind Singh Ji spent his final days," stated a release issued by the community.
As per the statement issued by the community on Sunday, Train No. 20705 (Nanded–Mumbai) will depart at 5:00 AM and reach Mumbai by 2:25 PM, halting at Parbhani, Jalna, and Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar. In the return direction, Train No. 20706 (Mumbai–Nanded) will leave at 1:10 pm and arrive in Nanded by 10:50 pm, with halts at Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar, Jalna, and Parbhani.
"The launch of this high-speed, semi-bullet service is set to enhance comfort and connectivity for pilgrims, tourists, and residents alike. It is also a tribute to the spiritual, cultural, and historical significance of Nanded in the Sikh faith and Indian heritage," said Bal Malkit Singh, Convenor of the Maharashtra Sikh Association (MSA).
