On Wednesday, November 9, Mumbai's PMLA court granted bail to Shiv Sena leader and MP Sanjay Raut. He was in jail for 100 days in the Patra Chawl land scam case. His close aide Nitin Raut also received bail.
The ED had arrested Raut on August 1 this year in a money laundering case connected to Goregaon’s Patra Chawl redevelopment project. He is presently in judicial custody in Arthur Road prison.
Work begins on barrier to protect King’s Circle bridge
The traffic police on Tuesday issued a no-objection certificate (NOC) to Central Railway to erect a height barrier on the southbound carriageway on Dr BR Ambedkar Road ahead of the Sion Hospital flyover.
The barrier is meant to prevent tall vehicles from trying to pass under the King’s Circle railway bridge. The work will begin today.

Whenever a topic of traffic congestion pops up during general talks, there is one or at times several persons who will assert that the Metro construction is one of the main causes of traffic snarls. Well, at times, others in the group are clueless about how much Metro construction works have really progressed.
To help you solve the niggling doubts, The Free Press Journal will now update you about the latest status of more than dozen Metro projects, including those still on paper.
Metro 1 - Versova - Ghatkopar
Let's start with the Metro 1 or blue line which runs between Versova and Ghatkopar. It has been in operation for over eight years now and became more crucial after the closure of Gokhale bridge.
As reported in the Nov 8 edition of The FPJ, the city's first Metro is seeing a ridership surge as people find rail commute convenient to travel between Andheri's east and west sides as Gokhale's closure.

Accident on the north bound carriageway of the Bandra Worli Sea link. A Maruti Suzuki Ertiga turned turtle on the sea link. There were minor injuries reported to the driver. Traffic was slow on the north bound carriageway for some time traffic police said.

Thane records 16 new COVID-19 cases; active tally comes down to 299
Thane has reported 16 new COVID-19 cases, taking its infection count to 7,47,028, a health official said on Wednesday.
These new infections were recorded on Tuesday, he said, adding that the number of active COVID-19 cases in the district has come down to 299 compared to 341 the previous day.
The death toll in Thane remained unchanged at 11,966. The recovery count has reached 7,35,515 he added. (PTI)

Metro 3 extension to Navy Nagar on track; MMRC to appoint consulting firm to prepare DPR soon
Later this month, the Mumbai Metro Rail Corporation (MMRC) will appoint a consulting firm to prepare a Detailed Project Report (DPR) to extend Colaba-Bandra-SEEPZ metro line up to Navy Nagar, after the Indian Navy and metro representatives have discussed the project details comprehensively.
According to sources, extending the 33.5 km route to Navy Nagar in Colaba is feasible. "It will take approximately six months to finalise the details of the line’s extension. In mid-2023, a tender will be floated to construct a 2.5-km long extension." Along with DPR, social as well as environmental impact assessments will be carried out.
