Maharashtra reports 27 coronavirus cases, zero death; active tally below 200
Maharashtra on Tuesday reported 27 new COVID-19 cases, taking the overall tally to 81,36,230, while no fresh death linked to the infection was registered in the state, said the health department.
The death toll remained unchanged at 1,48,408.
Maharashtra had reported 15 COVID-19 cases and zero fatality on Monday.
The Mumbai administrative circle reported the highest 16 cases in the last 24 hours, followed by Pune (6), Akola (2), Nashik (1), Aurangabad (1) and Nagpur circles (1), said the department in a bulletin.
An administrative circle consists of multiple districts.
CBI arrests 9 I-T officers in Nagpur for joining department without giving exam
The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has arrested nine Income Tax officers in Maharashtra's Nagpur who allegedly joined the department without appearing for the mandatory examination conducted by the Staff Selection Commission, an official said on Tuesday.
The anti-corruption branch of the CBI arrested the nine accused officers on Monday, the official said.
An offence was registered in 2018 after it came to light that some employees and officers had joined the I-T department without appearing for the Staff Selection Commission examination, he said.

Sharad Pawar, the leader of the Nationalist Congress Party (NCP), got a death threat on Tuesday after an unidentified person made a threatening phone call to his home in Silver Oak. The caller threatened to shoot him.
The caller made the threat in Hindi. According to the police, the caller has been identified and is from Bihar. Earlier as well, the same person had called Pawar and threatened him. He was earlier taken into custody and interrogated, however, he was released.
