Mumbai: A tragic incident unfolded on Sunday morning at Pankaj Mansion, C-Wing, second floor, in Siddharth Nagar, Worli. Around 7 a.m., Worli Police were alerted by a milkman, a newspaper vendor, and a building guard about a possible crime. Upon arrival, they discovered an elderly couple lying in a pool of blood.

The victims, identified as Rajmanohar Nampelli (60) and his wife Lata Nampelli (52), were immediately rushed to Nair Hospital but were declared dead on arrival. According to police sources, between 5:30 a.m. and 6:30 a.m., Rajmanohar allegedly used a country-made pistol to shoot his wife Lata while she was asleep. He then stepped out into the staircase passage and fatally shot himself in the forehead.

Preliminary investigations suggest that frequent domestic disputes were the trigger. Police suspect that Rajmanohar was frustrated that his wife always sided with their son during arguments. The couple had been living with their 30-year-old son and his wife, who were reportedly asleep in the bedroom when the incident occurred. The parents were sleeping in the hall.

Rajmanohar, an electrician by profession, allegedly shot Lata near her left eye at close range before taking his own life. The pistol used in the crime has been recovered. Police have filed a case and are probing the source of the firearm. The incident has sent shockwaves through the residential building and surrounding community. Further investigation is underway.
