Mumbai: In a move aimed at reducing traffic congestion and improving road access for emergency services, the Mumbai Traffic Police have announced a temporary odd-even parking regulation on General Arun Kumar Vaidya Marg in Bandra. The rule will be implemented from May 13 and will remain in force until August 12, operating 24 hours a day.
The decision was made following persistent congestion issues on the narrow stretch of road between M.E.T. College Junction and Krishna Chandra Marg (K.C. Marg), where indiscriminate parking on both sides has frequently obstructed traffic flow. The situation has become particularly problematic for emergency services, which struggle to navigate the road during peak hours.

Under the new rules, vehicles will be allowed to park on only one side of the road at a time based on the date. On even-numbered dates (e.g., 2nd, 4th, 6th), vehicles must be parked on the southbound side of General Arun Kumar Vaidya Marg in Bandra. On odd-numbered dates (e.g., 1st, 3rd, 5th), parking will only be permitted on the northbound side.
The Mumbai Traffic Division has clarified that the regulation is a temporary measure intended to ease congestion and will be closely monitored for effectiveness. Residents and commuters are urged to cooperate and strictly follow the new guidelines to avoid penalties and ensure smooth vehicular movement.
The Mumbai Traffic Police announced a new step via X on Saturday. The decision is aimed at reducing traffic jams, improving road safety, and ensuring emergency vehicles can move without delays. Signboards will be placed along the route to guide drivers, and traffic police officers will be present to enforce the new rules. More updates will be shared by the Bandra Traffic Division as needed.
