Mumbai: A tragic case of animal cruelty has emerged from Kandivali, where an elderly stray dog fell to its death after being chased by a building watchman. The incident, which took place around 8 am on June 18, was captured on CCTV and has since gone viral online, triggering widespread outrage.

According to the footage, the dog had entered the building and climbed up to the 15th floor, apparently in search of shelter. An elderly security guard was seen following the animal with a stick in his hand. The frightened dog tried to hide but found no safe space. In a panic, it climbed onto a shoebox placed near an open window.

The watchman struck the dog with the stick, and in an apparent attempt to flee further assault, the dog jumped from the window. It died instantly upon impact. While the visuals have sparked massive criticism on social media, no official complaint or legal action has been reported so far. The exact identity of the watchman and location of the building are still being verified.

Malad Resident Booked For Throwing Pet Cat From 9th Floor

In a separate incident earlier this month, Malad police registered a case against a local resident for killing a 15-month-old pet cat named Kalu by throwing her from the ninth floor of a high-rise building. The incident took place between 6:30 pm and 6:45 pm on June 5 at the GrowMore Onyx Society in Malvani.

The accused, identified as Kasam Sayyed, lives on the 9th floor of the society. The cat belonged to Gurjan Mohammad Umar Shamshi, a resident of the 21st floor. Initially, the family believed the cat had been hit by a vehicle. However, CCTV footage later revealed Sayyed picking up Kalu from a shoe rack near a window and deliberately throwing her down. He was also seen leaning over the window to check if she had fallen.

Following the shocking discovery, Shamshi filed a police complaint. Based on the footage, Sayyed was booked under Section 325 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) and Section 11(1)(I) of the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals Act. An investigation is currently underway.
