Mumbai Rains: Heavy Showers Lash City, Traffic Snarls & Train Delays Reported; Yellow Alert Issued
The India Meteorological Department (IMD) issued a yellow alert for Mumbai, warning of potential weather-related disruptions. According to the forecast, the city will experience a generally cloudy sky with moderate to heavy rainfall at isolated places throughout the day.

Mumbai: Mumbai witnessed intense rainfall on Thursday morning following heavy overnight showers that continued to drench the city and its suburbs. Areas like Kurla, Lalbaug, Byculla, CSMT and Nariman Point reported consistent downpours with gusty winds, leading to water accumulation and traffic slowdowns in several parts of the city.
IMD Issues Yellow Alert For City
The India Meteorological Department (IMD) issued a yellow alert for Mumbai, warning of potential weather-related disruptions. According to the forecast, the city will experience a generally cloudy sky with moderate to heavy rainfall at isolated places throughout the day. Citizens have been advised to remain alert and take necessary precautions due to the risk of localised flooding and traffic disruptions.
Local Train Delays Reported
The continuous rain has affected local commuting as well. Mumbai’s suburban railway services on the Central and Harbour lines are reportedly delayed by 10–15 minutes, according to the popular commute app m-Indicator. However, there has been no official statement from Central Railway regarding the delays. In contrast, services on the Western Railway line are running on schedule as of now.

On the roads, traffic congestion has been reported at Milind Nagar JVLR Road (MIDC) on the southbound stretch due to an accident involving a truck and a tempo. The Mumbai Traffic Police have alerted commuters to expect delays and plan their routes accordingly. No major traffic snarls were reported due to waterlogging or incessant rainfall as of now.
The maximum daytime temperature is expected to dip slightly and hover around 31 degrees Celsius, providing some relief from the humid conditions the city has experienced in recent days.
Konkan Region Put Under Orange Alert
As per the IMD's extended forecast, moderate to heavy showers are likely to continue over the next few hours. In nearby districts such as Raigad and Ratnagiri, an orange alert has been issued, indicating the possibility of very heavy rainfall.
