Shiv Sena (UBT) workers, on Monday, beat up BMC officers who demolished the illegal shakha office at Nirmal Nagar in Bandra East last week. Shiv Sainiks, who were accompanied by Anil Parab, claimed that the structure was razed along with a photograph of late Balasaheb Thackeray despite repeated requests to remove it from office before demolishing it.

Visibly furious workers barged into the BMC ward office at Bandra East. A video of the attack later went viral on social media. In it, Parab and other workers are seen asking to hand over the officers concerned to them. When the officer came forward, UBT workers started beating him up.

Watch the visuals here:

Parab said, “There are many illegal structures in the jurisdiction of Bandra ward office. If the administration couldn’t see those structures, I will catch their collar and show them.” He demanded there are many three to four-storey illegal structures at Bandra that have been erected after giving bribes to BMC officers. “In case of any untoward incident, these structures can create obstruction,” he added.

Parab asked that if Eknath Shinde is taking ahead of Balasaheb Thackeray’s thoughts, then how he has directed action on the shakha where Balasaheb and Shivaji Maharaj’s photos were put up on the walls.

Yuva Sena chief Aaditya Thackeray said, “There are lakhs of supporters of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj and Hinduhriday Samrat Balasaheb Thackeray in Maharashtra. Strong reactions will surface if someone hits a hammer on their photos.”

Shinde faction spokesperson Shital Mhatre slammed the Sena (UBT) and said, “These claims are untrue. No matter what, there will be an inquiry into the scams done during the pandemic. Uddhav Thackeray could not put up Balasaheb’s picture in the legislative council when he was the CM. But this government will do so.”
