To alleviate traffic congestion at Prabhu Shri Ram Chowk, also known as Mulund-Airoli Junction, on the Eastern Express Highway (EEH), the BMC is considering two new road projects. These initiatives are designed to ease congestion at both the chowk and the junction leading towards Airoli, improving the overall flow of traffic and connectivity in the area. The decision  followed a meeting with Mulund MLA Mihir Kotecha at the BMC headquarters.

On Monday Kotecha met with Municipal Commissioner Bhushan Gagrani to discuss various civic issues affecting the Mulund Assembly Constituency. "Prabhu Shri Ram Chowk, also known as Mulund-Airoli Junction, experiences heavy traffic flow daily, leading to traffic jams and wasting valuable time for commuters. Therefore, I have requested the development of four new free left arms (roads) at the Mulund-Airoli Junction. This will fully decongest the junction and save commuters around 15 minutes of travel time," said Kotecha. He has also proposed the development of a cable-stayed bridge at the same junction to help alleviate traffic congestion heading towards Airoli.

"A two-way cable-stayed bridge at Prabhu Shri Ram Chowk, above the EEH, has been proposed. This will help commuters heading towards Airoli save approximately 15 minutes of travel time," explained Kotecha. He discussed several other key issues including the frequent low-pressure water supply, expediting the ongoing cement concrete road works, taking a zero-tolerance stance on Bangladeshi hawkers, enforcing strict action on the illegal use of gas cylinders on streets, and shutting down the Kanjurmarg dumping ground, among other matters. Meanwhile, Gagrani confirmed that instructions have been issued to the concerned department to review and consider the proposals.
