The Maharashtra Housing and Area Development Authority (MHADA) addressed two significant public grievances during its 11th Lokshahi Din held at its headquarters in Bandra (East) today. Both cases concluded with decisions that offered substantial relief to the applicants, according to MHADA officials.

In the first case, Milind Kamble, who had been declared a successful applicant in the 2005 Konkan Board housing lottery for a tenement in Balkum, Thane, faced difficulties due to a long delay in receiving the payment demand letter, which only reached him in 2022. Although he eventually paid the full sale amount, the delay prompted the Board to levy interest charges.

Unable to afford the interest, Kamble appealed to MHADA during Lokshahi Din. After reviewing his case, the authority decided to waive the interest amount, citing the exceptional delay. However, since MHADA had previously passed a resolution to reduce sale prices for other eligible beneficiaries under the same scheme, Kamble was required to submit a written undertaking confirming he would not claim the reduced pricing benefit in addition to the interest waiver.

In the second case, Omprakash Rathi filed a complaint regarding a tenement in Cess Building No. 52–54 on V. V. Chandan Road in South Mumbai. Rathi claimed that the tenement, originally allotted in his name, had been incorrectly transferred to another individual. Following the submission of documents during Lokshahi Din, the Board conducted a prompt hearing at the level of the Deputy Chief Engineer. The matter is now under thorough review.

MHADA’s Lokshahi Din aims to address public grievances in a transparent and citizen-friendly manner, offering a direct platform for resolution of long-pending issues.
