Mumbai: A Metropolitan Magistrate court has acquitted a 36-year-old sweeper at Nair Hospital, who was booked in December 2019 after a senior doctor alleged he filmed her while she was changing clothes in the hospital’s ladies’ room post-surgery.

The doctor claimed she saw a phone camera above the room’s partition and caught the accused fleeing. On checking his phone, she found a video showing the room’s ceiling but not herself.

Though the accused apologised, a complaint was lodged with Agripada police, and he was arrested on January 1, 2020, and granted bail the same day.

During the trial, the doctor couldn’t identify the phone due to the time gap and said the video was later deleted. The court found the other witness's testimony to be hearsay. It also noted the complainant didn’t see who was holding the phone, raising doubts over the accused’s involvement. Hence, the court acquitted him due to a lack of concrete evidence.
